Hearing Aid Features

When an individual is speaking on the telephone, in order to clearly listen the other side of the conversation, they can switch a setting on the hearing aid. In a hearing aid that has a telephone switch, surrounding sounds are extinguished and the individual only hears the sounds coming from the telephone. A hearing aid like this also eliminates the whistling noise that one often gets when speaking on the phone. The reason for this is that the hearing aid microphone is turned off. The telephone or `T` setting, is also practical in large areas such as restaurants, theaters, auditoriums, etc. These buildings must be furnished with induction loop or FM installations. In places such as these, an wearer is able to mask out surrounding noise and have the hearing aid focus on the speaker’s voice.
A third feature a hearing aid could have is a direct audio input. These hearing aids have the capability to link to a remote microphone or a FM assistive listening device. A hearing aid with direct audio input also allows an individual to connect to a TV or other devices like a computer, radio, CD player, etc.
A hearing aid is so much more innovative nowadays than ten or twenty years ago. With current research and development, hearing aid technology will certainly become even more advanced. The greatest outcome of hearing aid advancements is the freedom and independence it returns adults and children with hearing loss.
